BTG027 BTG027

We started BTG in 2009 and we’ve had loads of fun over the past three years. Tonight is going to be special for a few reasons. 1) The D’angelo show in Brixton. It is sold out, but don’t worry if you didn’t pick up a ticket. We’ll be playing Brown Sugar + Voodoo in their entirety, back to back. If you did get a ticket, come back north with us after the show. 2) Our closest friends will be playing with us for the rest of the night. 3) Its the magic number, yo.

Call Super released a great ep last year called “Staircase.” He has recently remixed Renaissance Man and has forthcoming material on Throne of Blood.

Amit completely smashed it on NYE at secretsundaze. He has been dying to show off his solid garage collection, so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity.

Andy and Kaz run somethinksounds, one of my favourite new labels. Their taste in selection is definitely on a BTG tip and this won’t be the last time we rock a party together this year.

Ill Blu have released an EP on both Hyperdub and Numbers and are gearing up towards their next Hyperdub release. They will smash up the dancefloor just like they smash the airwaves on Rinse. Jonny Dub is the co-founder of Manchester’s Hoya:Hoya. Somehow his rep isn’t as big as his record collection (yet). Count Choc is happy to finally play back to back with one of his favourite people to bump into at warehouse parties, White Tyson.

Tales from the sneaky crypt Tales from the sneaky crypt

My good friend Ana, aka Sneaky Raccoon is putting on a custom toy show to celebrate her 5th anniversary featuring some of the best faces in the world of toys both vinyl and plush. There will be spooky entertainment in the form of live t-shirt printing, live drawing and a toy raffle on the night. Money raised from sales will go to the Macmillian Cancer support charity.

BTG025 — Nightwave, Paul Pre, Count Choc & Beagle BTG025 — Nightwave, Paul Pre, Count Choc & Beagle

We’re back from destroying the beach bar at SMS, Croatia. Been back for a solid month, actually. We’ve recovered and are ready once again to enjoy our favourite basement, Friday 7th October.

Nightwave released “The Feel” EP on Svetlana Industries in late June. Her dj sets are a playful take on the current Juke sound. Paul Pre shouldn’t need an introduction by now. He played for us a few months ago and was with us at SMS, flying in especially from Germany. Count Choc is glad to be back. And very glad to have our good friend Beagle finally joining the party. As always its free entry all night, open until 3.

BTG022 ft. Kutmah & Mr Lager BTG022 ft. Kutmah & Mr Lager

We’re off to Croatia on Aug 11th for Stop Making Sense festival. Before that, we have a big lineup consisting of Brainfeeder fam (Kutmah) and the man behind many Various Production releases (Mr Lager).

Kutmah has been tearing shit up since he arrived from LA just about a year ago. Lager has been in the shadows for Various for a long while and recently finished a remix for DJ Shadow. Count Choc has been reading short stories by Khalil Gibran and only recently heard Octavia Butler was worth checking out.

BTG018 ft. Midland & Paul Pre BTG018 ft. Midland & Paul Pre

BTG is 2 years old. To celebrate we’ve invited some special guests, Midland and Paul Pre. You might know Midland if you’ve been following the recent mutation of House, he has released music on Phonica Records, Aus Music, Werk, PMR, This Is Music and Southern Fried not to mention he has done some brilliant remixes of Washed Out and Caribou. He’s destined for big things, trust us.

Paul Pre is better than your favourite dj. He is the man behind our best BTGMX to date. He is flying in from Germany. Its actually ridiculous to have him – the proverbial icing on the cake, if you will. The best part is we’ll get a taste of what he’ll be playing for us at Stop Making Sense Festival this Summer. We’ll just be in a basement as opposed to on a beach.

BTG017 ft. Seiji and Tropics BTG017 ft. Seiji and Tropics

We are happy to announce Seiji, one of the biggest influences on UK dance music, as our headliner for our first party in 2011. His productions have been tearing up dancefloors since 1996 and like very few producers in the game he has been able to reinvent himself through several mutations of UK house without dwelling on the past. In short, he is a don.

Tropics is new on the scene. He makes summertime music that glides, swells and gleams – a perfect antidote to this time of year in London. His debut EP on Planet Mu, Soft Vision, is a hint of what he has up his sleeve.

BTG016 with Lil Silva + Koreless BTG016 with Lil Silva + Koreless

For our next dance, we have Lil Silva as our headline guest. He has been making waves for a while now with his rowdy interpretation of UK house music. Earlier this year he released “Night Skanker” on Resident Advisor’s label of the month, Night Slugs. He has also been featured on Soul Jazz Records’ new compilation “Riddim Box / Excursions in the UK Funky Underground”.

We have now added Koreless to the lineup. With plays from Gilles Peterson and Benji B on their Radio 1 shows he has fans in all the right places. Pictures Music have released some great music in the past year and we are really happy to finally work with one of their artists.

Date: Friday 03 December 2010 / Time: 21:00-03:00

BTG012 – Saturday 3rd July

BTG012 Saturday 3rd July BTG012 Saturday 3rd July

Our 12th night is upon us and we’ve got Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, of Greco Roman fame, headlining for us with a rare dj set. When he’s not chilling with Marshall Jefferson, or playing for Annie Mac, he’s writing music for you to dance to. He’s a good friend, an even better dj and his knowledge of Jungle is prettaay impressive.

After our great 1yr bday party at The CAMP, we thought we’d switch our steez up and move a bit further East. The soundsystem at The Alibi is potent, and the space is reminiscent of an NYC basement – so it seemed like a great place to have a party. We’re really looking forward to it.

Also, since we tend to see these more as events than simply nights, we’re going to have limited edition mix cds for the night put together by us, as well as some posters for you to take home.

Hvass & Hannibal Losing the Plot Hvass & Hannibal Losing the Plot

Spotted this was on at Kemistry Gallery (Shoreditch) and thought I’d share. I’ve not been yet but looking to check it out in the next couple of weeks, as its next to the Studio it would be rude not too.

The exhibition is “Inspired by the collation and sorting of random data sources, Danish design polymaths Nan Na Hvass and Sofie Hannibal are reinterpreting information and expressing it by way of wooden sculptures, hand-benched silkscreen prints and offset posters.” If the poster above is any indication then we’re going to be in for a real treat.

Its running from the 14th January through to the 27th February. Kemistry is open weekdays from 11–6 and Saturday from 11–4, and its free. For a more detailed write up see the Kemistry Website.
