We wanted to do something a little different for our next mix, so we enlisted the collective behind Bristol’s freshest garment outlet (Donuts) and one of the city’s most forward-thinking clubnights (Crazylegs). We have actually been in the process of chasing it since June – I see you Jamie! The reason I wanted to have them curate a mix is because I found it very impressive that some young guys were running a retail shop off their own backs.
I’ve got massive respect for Turntablelab, and Donuts seems to be their British equivalent. Since the Donuts lads are so busy, I wasn’t too fussed with the six month delay. To be honest I thought they had all but forgotten my request. But then when I posted pics of BTG015, our signature tee, they got in touch straight away.
And to make things even more interesting, after agreeing on an interview I thought it would be cool if they repped their city through the mix. That was the only criteria to be met in the brief – that it be 100% Bristol. Three hours later I had a mix in my inbox thanks to Crazylegs resident EFA. Its focuses on new sounds from the UK bass scene, but is a bit more special than your average mix of said variety due to its geographical focus.

Exclusive interview and tracklist after the jump

The homies from Slothboogie are throwing their birthday party tomorrow eve, and for the special occasion they’ve enlisted a few big guns to the party. For more info click here. They are selling some fresh garments too, this one is my favourite.

Donuts crew from Bristol are also throwing a big party tomorrow. Haven’t seen Joker in ages, I’m sure he kills it each and every.

Finally, the Eglo massive are throwing this epic jam on Saturday. I’ll be at the front or propping up the bar. Going to be amazing, featuring an exclusive PA from Floating Points and Fatima that you won’t see anywhere else, ever. The rest of the lineup is ridiculous too, Alex has really gone all out. He even joined facebook for a week just to push it. Ha!

Bake Designs make some really nice tshirts and have a very clean blog. I’d suggest buying one and adding BD to your RSS feed.
Check the first Bake Mix (dig the pun) from Synamatix, one of the people behind The Daily Street. Bristol has a great scene, in fact one of our next BTGMX’s is coming from the guys behind Donuts – arguably the freshest store + party purveyors there.
