The bottom of the stairwell at The CAMP. Eglo records takeover was a massive success. Dâm Funk even bigged me up on the mic after I brought him a couple of margaritas (that’s all he drinks). ha!

DAM FUNK vs BIGGI (mp3) DAM FUNK vs BIGGI (mp3)

My home-slice indecision had the idea of mashing up Biggi with Dam Funk…so we sat in one afternoon and did it.

We used the aptly named ‘Going back to Cali’ from Biggi and whacked it over Dam Funk’s new skool boogie funk anthem ‘Hood Pass Intactt’.

Makes you wonder which you would rather bust out first…the keytar or the tech 9?

DâM FunK On & On (mp3) DâM FunK On & On (mp3)

Hopefully you know the man behind the DâM FunK moniker by now. He has put out a couple of serious 12″s and podcasts via Stones Throw over the past year, plays out weekly in LA (I can’t believe its been 3 years since I’ve moved..) and held his UK debut at Deviation’s 1 year anniversary. He’s the only dj I know that  toasts the tracklist to his sets while he plays, and thus manages to spread his message (né, Funk) further every time he gets on stage. I had heard Midnight Express’ “Dangerzone” before watching him at Deviation, but it was one of those tunes that I never was able to put a name to. So when it came on at that party, I secretly hoped he would let me (and the room) know what that song was called. Needless to say, he did, I wrote it down on my phone, and tracked it down. Not very dusty crate diggerish of me, I know, but what can I say -  he’s a man of the people.

He’s releasing a new album in a few months which will be available on all the standard formats LP (x5!), CD and MP3. This track is a preview for you to bump in your Impala or Ipod. Of course, its got that signature DF sound which is bulging with sticky synths and swinging drums that echoes palm trees and burritos. Its summertime music from Los Angeles.
