I love letterpress. But to be honest who doesn’t. This is a short film about letterpress and one of the few remaining movable-type printing workshops in the UK, situated at Plymouth University, featuring Paul Collier.

We started BTG in 2009 and we’ve had loads of fun over the past three years. Tonight is going to be special for a few reasons. 1) The D’angelo show in Brixton. It is sold out, but don’t worry if you didn’t pick up a ticket. We’ll be playing Brown Sugar + Voodoo in their entirety, back to back. If you did get a ticket, come back north with us after the show. 2) Our closest friends will be playing with us for the rest of the night. 3) Its the magic number, yo.

Call Super released a great ep last year called “Staircase.” He has recently remixed Renaissance Man and has forthcoming material on Throne of Blood.

Amit completely smashed it on NYE at secretsundaze. He has been dying to show off his solid garage collection, so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity.

Andy and Kaz run somethinksounds, one of my favourite new labels. Their taste in selection is definitely on a BTG tip and this won’t be the last time we rock a party together this year.

Welsh producer Dauwd dropped What’s There back in November. A very consistent release and instantly appealing. The single received a lot of love at the back end of last year along with the track Ikopol, but no real mention of Acireams, my personal favourite on the release. Dauwd is on Pictures Music alongside the genius of Koreless, Lapalux and Seams… and rightly so.

Symmetry (Johnny Jewel and Nat Walker) famous for creating the score to Drive, have dropped a new release: Themes For An Imaginary Film. I’m not sure if these tracks are literally spill over from Drive, as the style is practically identical - regardless it stands alone as a very strong 2 hours of cinematic slickness. Out of all 37 tracks, The Maze stood out as my favourite. Wait for the super slow-mo 4×4 drop halfway through.

I’ve been digging for a lot of new music recently – most of it techno influenced – a thirst brought on by my trip to the Berghain Warehouse Project back in December. Out of all the music I’ve found – which I’ll share over the next few months – this had to be the first track. Redshape is on the Frankfurt based Running Back Records - a label which seems to be pushing a whole host of artists in the same vein. Definitely check them out! On Da Floor is an epic 8 minute  track which only really kicks in around the 4:30 mark. It’s massively worth the wait.

I just discovered Pedestrian today. He’s signed to Push and Run and debuted at Boiler Room B2B with Gang Colours. When listening you can’t help but be reminded of Gold Panda, intricate organic samples, sun drenched synths and a consistent low end sub. He’ll blatantly be one of the handful of newcomers that people urge you to watch out for. Get it.

This track, if nothing else, makes me grin. It’s probably the instant connection to the simple yet brilliant video. It’s not dissimilar to countless other tracks from the early 80s boogie funk era but up there with one of my favourites. It was dropped in ’83 on the album Love for Love.
