Currently the featured mix on the excellent Percussion Lab website is this latest mix offering from Roughquest. Here’s what Percussion Lab had to say: “His “Beats & Treats” mix revolves around dirty fat beats that have inspired him throughout his career. Mashups galore featuring samples from Cannibal Ox, Souls of Mischief, Jaylib, Company Flow and Beck…”

Above cover artwork is also by Roughquest, photography by Therese Flanagan.

Some really nice illustrations from Blanca Gómez I came across while perusing Grain Edit. I really like the fonts, the London one is used on our transport, the New York one is used for The New Yorker magazine, but I don’t know what the Paris typeface is referencing. I wish she had done some more!

Thanks to everyone that made it down to The Alibi for our party on the 3rd July. Much fun was had by all, as these pictures go to show. Huge thanks to Emil Charlaff for the work behind the lens. See the full set on our Flickr.

Blockhead – The Music Scene

Haven’t heard much from Blockhead since I bought Music For Cavelight back in 03, which was on heavy rotation that summer (along with Madlib’s Shades of Blue).  Since then I haven’t spent much time listening to “post-ambient-beats”, but I’m slowly making my way back to them. On a side note, watching this makes me feel like I’m tripping balls.

“Crush Depth” launch party, Bocking Street. Unfortunately when I arrived Chrome Hoof had just come off stage. Somehow managed to stay out until the sun came up though.
