Mashups galore featuring samples from Cannibal Ox, Souls of Mischief, Jaylib, Company Flow and Beck…”

Above cover artwork is also by Roughquest, photography by Therese Flanagan.

This has been out for a bit now and I’ve been meaning to repost it. Dusty Brown “is an insanely talented Sacramento-based producer and musician who, along with his eponymous band, creates a sort of beat-centric clash between raw ambient-electronic and synth-driven indie rock.” – Scott Hansen

Offered up on Scott Hansen’s excellent ISO50 blog as a free 5 track EP, it features cover art from Scott himself with the original photography of Dusty Brown coming from Raoul Ortega.

See the post on ISO50 to stream and download.

Our 12th night is upon us and we’ve got Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, of Greco Roman fame, headlining for us with a rare dj set. When he’s not chilling with Marshall Jefferson, or playing for Annie Mac, he’s writing music for you to dance to. He’s a good friend, an even better dj and his knowledge of Jungle is prettaay impressive.

After our great 1yr bday party at The CAMP, we thought we’d switch our steez up and move a bit further East. The soundsystem at The Alibi is potent, and the space is reminiscent of an NYC basement – so it seemed like a great place to have a party. We’re really looking forward to it.

Also, since we tend to see these more as events than simply nights, we’re going to have limited edition mix cds for the night put together by us, as well as some posters for you to take home.

This is a collection of songs that I’ve really been feeling over the past couple of months. I’ve been sitting on a few unreleased tracks for a while, so they are all pretty much available now. And most of them have been available for ages! While its almost a cliché to mix house/garage/funky/dubstep/etc, I’ve never had the ability (or common sense?) to stick to one genre so its nothing really new for me. I had fun putting this mix together and hope it serves as a soundtrack to a World Cup after-party somewhere around the globe. ^CC

Roska – I Need Love (ft Anesha) [Rinse Recordings]
Mommas Boy – At Night [Nightshifters]
Hot City – Another Girl [Moshi Moshi Records]
Ikonika – Psoriasis [Hyperdub]
Deadboy – If U Want Me [Numbers]
Lil Silva – Funky Flex [CDR]
Aaliyah – Are You That Somebody [Atlantic Records]
Panash – Cheval (Przewalski’s Eastern Bounce) [BBE]
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – Dipper [Greco-Roman]
Gregor Salto – Just For Fun [G-Rex]
A Made Up Sound – Rework [A Made Up Sound]
Floating Points – Shark Chase [Eglo Records]
Pole vs Mike Huckaby – Düsseldorf (Mike Huckaby S Y N T H remix) [ ~scape]
Reboot – Caminando [Sei Es Drum]
Débruit – Nigeria What? [Civil Music]
Ramadanman – Glut [Hemlock Recordings]
Hypno – Over The Top [Brownswood Recordings]
Logic – Blues For You (Hard Dub) [Strictly Rhythm]
Joe – Claptrap [Hessle Audio]
Ginuwine – Pony [Sony Music]

Great set of photos documenting a surf in Malibu by Los Angeles based Justin Carrasquillo. Love the way the gulls make an appearance in almost every shot.

Beautiful shots from Amsterdam-based photographer Misha de Ridder. Some shots maybe not so easy to see with the colours of this site, so apologies for that!

This web developers stationery set and portfolio really caught my eye, possibly because it isn’t what you’d expect to see coming from a developer what with it being so heavily print influenced. Lovely use of colour and info-graphics to portray his skill sets and a cleaver little single page site. Goes to show what a good designer/developer combo can rustle up.

I know the miniaturisation/tilt shift thing is nothing new. However, I really think Daniel Espírito Santo has created some stunning examples of it here in his Minimize / Andorra set. The size of the images posted here don’t really do them justice.

I love Au Revoir Simone, its nothing new. This remix of ‘Another Likley Story’ by Neon Indian isn’t anything new either, but I’d thought share because it’s très good. The track is taken from the forthcoming Au Revoir Simone remix album ‘Night Light’, due out July 5th.
