It was difficult to pick a tune from Gold Panda’s much-anticipated debut, Lucky Shiner. Most people will already have heard You and some have probably come across Snow And Taxis, since both are the LP’s singles. You have to listen to the album to get to Marriage, the seventh track, and for some reason it really stuck out to me as something special.
It begins with soft, triggered synths and is slowly layered with delicate notes and plucks. Out of nowhere a tame four/floor kick drum pattern emerges and everything comes together. This track is a great example of what Gold Panda does so well, combine sadness with euphoria, with the bare essentials. I highly recommend this album.
